The Hilton Green Apiary team has recently gathered to bid farewell to Alasdair Lewis, who is leaving after many years of dedicated service. Alasdair has played a key role in looking after Hilton Green on behalf of the association, ensuring the apiary is available as a sister training venue to Shugborough.
Although Alasdair is moving to the North East to begin a new chapter, he will remain involved with the association as Membership Secretary. The team is grateful for Alasdair’s commitment and wishes him every success in his move. His thoughtful stewardship at Hilton Green will be missed by all.
Saturday marked the conclusion of our weekly meetings for the season. During our final session, we made sure the bees were well supplied with stores, under-supered the hives, and gave the frames and boxes a thorough cleaning. Looking ahead, we plan to gather monthly, first Saturday of the month, throughout the winter to continue feeding as needed, clear out boxes and queen excluders, and clean the NUC’s, in preparation for the 2026 season. Our ongoing care will help ensure the apiary remains healthy and ready for the year ahead.
