Bees in the Garden – 40th Anniversary Special

Did you know that this year we are celebrating 40 years of our permanent apiary sighting on the Shugborough Estate?

A small piece of land was granted by the estate and opened by Lord Lichfield on 3rd September 1983.

On 2nd September, South Staffs Beekeepers will be celebrating in the Walled Garden of the Shugborough Estate (opposite reception) between 10am and 3pm.

There will be games and children’s activities, honey tasting and sales a candle rolling workshop and an opportunity to meet our beekeepers and our bees in the observation hive!

Come on down and celebrate with us, we can’t wait to see you!

Bees in the Garden – Sunday 6th August

Join us this Sunday 6th August, in the walled garden of the Shugborough Estate. South Staffordshire & District Beekeepers Association will be selling honey and candles 10am until 3pm. Come and meet some of our members and learn about the bees kept on the estate at Shugborough. We will be located in the walled garden opposite reception. We can’t wait to see you!

This is some of our members and young volunteers at last month’s event, we completely sold out of honey so if you’d like some make sure you come early!

Volunteers required for Saturday morning inspections

With the beginners beekeeping course starting this Saturday, our Shugborough apiary team need members to come and help with inspections on Saturday mornings from 10am.

They usually last around an hour, finishing with light refreshments and a natter afterwards. What better way to spend a Saturday morning!

Also, if you consider yourself to be a novice beekeeper, you’re welcome to stay at the apiary in order to attend our novice beekeeping demonstrations with Trevor starting after 1.30pm. This week’s demonstration is combining a Nuc into a queenless colony.

Come along and support our fantastic apiary team 🌞🐝
